We're all home!

Hello everyone! We hope you're all having a wonderful nice, long holiday weekend!

So sorry for the delay but things have been pretty busy the last couple of weeks. The twins were born at 7:40 (Reese) and 7:42 (Madison) on Wednesday, June 23rd. The c-section went all as planned but as soon as Madison was out the discovered that she was having some issues breathing. We were told that this was fairly standard for a baby that was not totally full-term yet so we weren't too worried but it definitely wasn't as nice and smooth as we had hoped. They also took Reese directly to the nursery to observe here but she was later returned to our room. Poor Madison on the other hand was admitted it the NICU at the hospital. Her breathing was able to normalize fairly early on and she was taken off of the oxygen after a couple days which was wonderful. They then also allowed us to hold her and I was able to start nursing her which she did very well with. At the point she was just not able to keep her temperature up so they had to keep her until she could maintain it by herself for 48 hours. She was finally able to after about a week and was allowed to go home with us! We are so happy to have both of the girls and Brady now all at home! Things were really crazy while Madison was in the hospital. We were busy with Reese and trying to spend time with Brady while still making it up to the hospital to feed and spend time with Madison. Thank goodness my parents live close to the hospital because we ended up staying with them and they were a huge help in juggling everything!

The girls have been doing really good now that we're all at home. They've been eating and eating and sleeping and are really mellow babies just like Brady was. Brady loves his little sisters already. He's always trying to share with them and if he can't see one of them he lets us know that they are missing- it is really cute.

Brady also got his boot off last Thursday and it has been so great. He just loves being outside and is now able to spend tons of time playing out in his pool, sandbox and swing set. Summer fun for sure!

Tomorrow we take the girls in for their 2 week appointment so I'll be sure to keep everyone updated on their stats! Have a wonderful weekend!!!

This is it!

Hello everyone!

We hope that you're all doing great and have had a wonderful Father's Day weekend!!!

This is it - our last full day of being a family of 3 - tomorrow morning at this time I should be in the middle of my c-section and the girls should be making their way into the world. How crazy is that to think about it - we will then be a family of 5. I have to say I can't wait! I am so excited to finally meet these active little baby girls. They are still constantly finding room to move making my stomach look so odd but its nice to still be able to feel them in there. I am so curious to see how big they'll really end up being and to see how much they'll look like each other and like their big brother Brady. I have to say even though I'm a bit prejudice that I think Brady is absolutely gorgeous so I hope that they are lucky enough to get some of his good looks.

Brady enjoying a popsicle - ahhh summer

Tonight we're going to just spend some time with Brady and finish loading up the car but other than that we're ready. Pretty amazing that I've made it 37 weeks and am still able to walk around - although my stomach looks pretty unbelievable. It will be so nice to be able to see my toes again :) The hardest part of the next few days will be going without seeing Brady but I know he'll be in great hands with his nana and papa and he'll seriously not even realize that he hasn't seen me b/c he'll be having so much fun!

Hanging out on Father's Day - still in his pj's

We had a wonderful weekend celebrating all of the big events. Friday night Reid and I got PF Chang's carryout and watched movies - it was so much fun to just hang out and spend a few hours together. For my b-day on Saturday Reid took me out to eat breakfast at our new Ihop and then later on we all went out to eat with nana, papa and grannie at Smokey Bones - another great day of eating!!! Finally for Father's Day we went to Olive Garden and enjoyed a nice big meal. Brady absolutely loved their shredded Parmesan cheese. He could not get enough of it so his nana went yesterday and got some to shred for him at her house. Is he a bit spoiled or what? Oh well - I wouldn't have it any other way!

Enjoying his cheese - YUM

Brady's foot seems to be healing up great. He's still wearing his Wee Walker boot but he gets to sleep with it off and while it's off his foot doesn't seem to bother him at all which is great. A week from this Thursday he's done wearing it and we all can't wait. He will be so excited to be able to get back out in his pool and sandbox.

Well that's all for now - we hope you all have a great week and we'll do our very best to keep you all updated on the exciting events of tomorrow!!!

We're almost there!

We had another great doctor appointment. The girls are still growing and had nice strong heartbeats and I had good stats too. I'm supposed to stay off my feet from here on out but still not on strict bed rest - yay! I have to say it isn't that easy to get around these days anyway so I'm not too upset about staying off my feet except for that fact that I'm not all that much fun for Brady but like everything else - he takes is like a champ and doesn't complain.

So at this point we're all set for the 23rd and I don't have to go back in to the doctor at all before that because we've done so good. It's going to be pretty weird to no go back to that office - I'm so used to going in there and chatting with all of the nurses. Oh well - I'm definitely ready to move on to the next chapter and finally meet these 2 active little girls. I can't believe how much they still move around in there knowing how cramped their space must be. My stomach looks crazy when they both get going!

Brady is doing really well. He gets to stop sleeping in his boot after tomorrow night. It will be so great when we can take him back out in the pool and let him play outside but he is at least having a great time in his bubble baths each night.

This coming weekend brings tons of celebrations to our little family. We kick it off on Friday with Reid and I celebrating our 6th anniversary! Wow does time fly. Then Saturday we've got my birthday and finally on Sunday we've got Father's Day. Can't wait to celebrate with the family and can't believe that this is the last weekend that we'll be a family of 3!

We hope that you all have a wonderful week - thanks so much for checking in on all of us!!!

Still a bit crazy

Hello! We hope this entry finds you all well! Things have been going good around here but it has still been a bit crazy.
Our sweet boy taking a break

The worst part is poor little Brady and his leg. He's handling having a cast on like such a little champ and hasn't been complaining about it at all but it's still sad to see him with that big thing on his leg. It will also be such a relief when he's able to get wet again. He loves being out in the water and even getting baths and right now he's not allowed to get his cast wet at all so we hid the pool and have to give him sponge baths - not at all his favorite but again he deals with it and doesn't complain. We go back in Thursday to his ortho so hopefully we'll have a better idea after that of how much longer we'll be dealing with all of this.
Silly boy talking to his nana on the phone

The girls and I are doing good. They still manage to find room to move around in there which is amazing but because of the lack of space you can really see them when they do move - my stomach gets all bent out of shape. It is still hard to believe that there are 2 little babies in there. As long as they've been staying true to their recent growth trend they should now be over 5lbs each. Crazy to think I'm carrying around over 10lbs of just baby alone in there but it definitely explains my discomfort. So far I'm able to get myself out of bed by myself but I'm just waiting for the day when I can no longer even roll out of it. My hospital bag is all packed so we are ready if they would decide to come a little early but we're still hoping to keep them in until the 23rd.

Brady is ready for his sisters to get here!

This past Friday they had a shower for Reese and Madison at Humana. They got us all kinds of wonderful things that we still needed so it was great! We're very thankful that Reid works with such wonderful and generous people.

We hope that you have a great week and we'll continue to keep you updated on everything!

The excitement never ends...

What a couple of days we've had! We started off with another trip to the hospital. Brady was running laps around the house Sunday morning and fell. He barely cried and didn't act like anything was really hurting him so we just went on with business as normal. Then we noticed that he was walking funny but he's 2 and he does that sometimes being silly. So we paid more attention and checked him over and realized that his little right foot was starting to swell and at that point he started to refuse to walk at all. We headed to the new children's hospital which might not have been our best idea yet. The hospital is super close to us but it has only been open 5 days so they've only approved 1 doctor to be in the ER at a time. So we spent about 6 or 7 hours with Brady waiting to see a doctor. I have to say that poor little Brady did so well considering the pain he was in and the fact that we sat and waited forever. Getting his splint on in the hospital

Brady fractured his first metatarsal and they put a splint on it that night. Reid, my mom and I took him to a pediatric orthopedic surgeon today and they put a blue cast on him and gave him a little boot to wear to try to walk around. We go back in on the 10th to hopefully get it off. He's taking it all like a champ though. This little boy loves playing outside and loves getting wet - both of which are off limits for now. Hopefully we'll be able to keep him preoccupied until he's able to get the cast off.
Sleeping on nana while getting his cast on today

The girls and I also had an appointment today. We got an A++ from the doctors. Reese was 4lbs 11oz and Madison was 4lbs 13oz which actually pushed up their due date to 7/13 so we're still on schedule for the c-section on 6/23. They also were in there practicing their breathing which was another great sign. The doctors were very happy. They said that I need to take it easy and still try to keep them in there until the 23rd but it looks like my goal of no bed rest is going to happen.

Painting....we'll be spending a lot of time doing this in the next few weeks

We hope that you all had a great Memorial Day weekend and have a wonderful week!

Summer is here!

Hello everyone!

We hope this entry finds you all enjoying the nice warm weather!!!

We've been having some really warm weather lately. Brady is having a great time soaking up the sun and playing out in the water. I've never seen a little kid love water quite as much. Not only does he like to swim in his pool and splash around but he loves to dump water on his head and spray himself in the face with it?!? It doesn't even matter if the water is freezing cold - he still loves to do it. It's just hilarious too because then he starts to just crack up.

The other day we were at my parents house and he's out in his pool there and just decided to lay back in the water and just lays there relaxing in the water which was not all that warm but he was in heaven.

Everything else is going good. Still having some contractions here and there but nothing too strong or frequent yet. The girls will be here in less than 4 weeks - pretty crazy but I have to say I'm really looking forward to it. The heat seems to be taking its toll on me - I've been even more tired than normal and my stomach is just huge. I got in my mom's car last night to turn on the air as she was putting Brady in his car seat and I have to say I'm sure glad I have a van and not a car because I could barely fit behind the wheel.

Brady trying to find room againt to sit on my lap...

Have a wonderful week and enjoy the nice long weekend!!!

Brady's 2nd B-day Party

Hello everyone!

Hope you're doing great! So far this blogging thing seems pretty easy! This is my 3rd entry in a week I believe. We had such a fun and busy weekend! On Saturday we celebrated Brady's 2nd B-day with a huge group of family and friends. It was so much fun and Brady LOVED it! He had so much fun playing with all of this friends and cousins and even enjoyed some of the adults that came to the party too. Sometimes he can be a bit shy at first but he was not shy at all. It seemed like he totally knew the party was for him and he was ready to just take it all in. We're so lucky that he's got such wonderful people in his life to be able to celebrate!

That night he was wide awake and had no intention of going to bed early like we thought he might from all of the activities of the day. Then he woke up the morning after at 5:30 talking all about his party and taking me out to see his balloons in our living room. He then went on to tell me that he wanted to go back to the park and party. Although I was really tired being up that early it made me very happy to know that he had enjoyed his party so much that he wanted to go back.

We ended our weekend with a bit more excitement - I started to have some pains in my stomach and back. They didn't seem like the full on contractions that I remembered with Brady in the hospital but they got stronger and wouldn't go away so my OB had me go into the hospital to get monitored. They said I was having contractions but nothing too serious and nothing else in the whole labor process had started to happen so they let me go with some new restrictions... no picking up Brady. Apparently 15lbs is now my limit and since he's 34lbs it's out of the question. So luckily we've got a great grandparents that are going to be able to help Reid take care of him. Reid already has to do so much since my mobility is a bit limited and he's been wonderful about it but I'm also glad that he'll be able to get some help now that I'm really going to be out of commission.

Everything else is going great - we continue to make small preparations for the Reese & Madison's arrival but luckily have the major things all done.

We hope you all have a great week!
